Ultrasonic Facial Scrubber With Iontophoresis and Phonophoresis

The ultrasonic facial scrubber with iontophoresis and phonophoresis is a device used to help penetrate moisturizers, toners, serums, pain relievers and more into the skin to be absorbed. It also helps to remove dead skin cells, reduces pores and blemishes and improves the overall appearance of your face. It has multiple modes and can be used on all skin types. To use the device simply select your desired mode. The spatula can be used in scrubbing, peeling and massage modes to gently remove impurities and debris from the skin. Once you have finished with this step, change the mode to "Phonophoresis", to apply the medication directly to your skin. This device also has a mode where you can apply gels and serums and use the flat spatula to slide on your face in circular motions. This will help improve absorption and results of these products by multiplying the action and delivering them deeper into the skin.

Iontophoresis requires ionization of the substances to be transported through the stratum corneum layer which limits many substances. Phonophoresis does not require ionization and therefore offers improved penetration of drugs through the tissue. It also transports substances into living tissue much faster than iontophoresis. This is especially important when the target tissue is located beyond a diffusion limiting membrane such as a living membrane or in living tissue that has different diffusion characteristics than the surrounding tissue.

For the iontophoresis groups, resting VAS scores showed a significant improvement compared to baseline after 10 days of treatment but not at the six week follow up examination (p0.05). Pressure and activity VAS scores were also significantly improved in both the MPS and ketoprofen phonophoresis groups compared to the control group (p0.001).

The iontophoretic systems approved by the FDA are used to deliver a local anesthetic for venipuncture or a dermatologic procedure. The evidence supporting the use of iontophoresis to administer local anesthetic or fentanyl is sufficient to show improvement in net health outcomes and the procedure is medically necessary.
