Is a Cellulite Massager a Cure?

Using a cellulite massager is one way to improve your skin's appearance and reduce dimpled or lumpy areas. It may also help with other health benefits, such as improved circulation and increased collagen production. However, a cellulite massager is not a cure and it will likely take a combination of methods to treat the problem.

Most types of cellulite massagers have the same basic purpose - to stimulate circulation and help smooth out your skin. Some devices also have added features such as infrared or other technologies. They can either be used for a full body massage or just target specific areas such as the hips, buttocks and thighs where cellulite is most common. Some are even hand held and can be used in the shower.

The theory behind a cellulite massager is that it can physically redistribute the pockets of fat cells under the skin to reduce the appearance of dimpled areas. To do this the massager would have to apply a great deal of pressure that might be uncomfortable. It is also unclear whether or not this would actually be effective – it is hard to imagine how massaging the skin could break up fat molecules or distribute them differently.

Another type of device that is supposed to address cellulite is the foam roller. This is a cylindrical device made of foam that you roll over the affected area, similar to a traditional massage ball but much larger. It is not clear whether or not this is any more effective than a regular massage roller or how long the results would last.

Other professional treatments such as endermologie can also be used to treat cellulite. The treatment is performed by a trained therapist using an electronic device that stretches and lifts the skin in the area where cellulite is most prominent. It is not a cheap option and repeated sessions are often required to see results. It is possible to buy an endermologie machine for home use which can be very expensive but this is not guaranteed to work or provide the same results as a professional treatment.

Those who have not been able to afford a professional anti cellulite massage or do not want to spend the money on an at-home cellulite massager may try using a special lotion or oil to help firm up and smooth the skin. There are a wide variety of these available and they are usually sold in beauty stores and pharmacies. However, some are more effective than others and the majority of them do not contain enough active ingredients to have any real impact on cellulite.

There are some cellulite massagers on the market that have spiked pads to "activate" the skin. These should be used over a layer of massage oil or cream to get the best results. If you don't have any massage oils at home you can try a regular body lotion or just massage the area over and over again. Just remember that massaging alone will not remove cellulite; it must be combined with exercise, a healthy diet and other lifestyle changes to make any difference.
